Twenty years ago I started a law firm from nothing — a borrowed desk, court-appointed cases, and no safety net. That firm grew into a multi-million dollar practice.
Firm Builder Blueprint exists so you can get there faster — and without the mistakes that cost me years.

My first law office was a desk inside my mother-in-law's OBGYN practice.
If you've seen Better Call Saul, you know exactly what it looked like.
No big firm experience. No safety net. No investors. Just a law degree, a willingness to figure it out, and a borrowed space that was anything but impressive.
My earliest clients were my mother-in-law's patients — people who came in for a medical appointment and left with help on a will, a traffic ticket, or a divorce. I was doing court-appointed work and document review on the side just to keep cash flowing.
There was no roadmap. No blueprint. No one telling me what to do next.
I was building it in real time — and making every mistake you can make along the way.
"I spent money on marketing I couldn't track, made hiring decisions I regret, and treated the business side of my practice as something I'd figure out later. That approach keeps you busy. It doesn't build anything sustainable."
At a certain point, I made a decision that surprised people: I left my own practice for two years to work at a mid-sized insurance defense firm.
It was one of the most valuable things I ever did.
I saw firsthand what a well-run firm actually looks like — disciplined billing practices, real operational systems, and what competent office management and paralegals can do for an attorney's ability to practice law. Those lessons came back with me and fundamentally changed how I ran everything.
But I also saw the other side clearly.
I watched a firm that had built its entire book of business around one major client. One relationship change, and the entire operation would be in crisis. I watched a firm that treated marketing as an afterthought — assuming the work would always come. It's a slow leak most firms don't notice until it's serious.
I came back to my own practice with a much clearer picture of what to build — and what to avoid at all costs.
Over the next two decades, that firm — the one that started in a borrowed desk in an OBGYN waiting area — grew into a multi-million dollar practice.
Not because I had advantages. Not because I had a perfect plan from day one. But because I eventually learned the right lessons, put the right systems in place, and built something that didn't depend on any single client, referral source, or relationship to survive.
Today, Batch, Poore & Williams, PC serves clients across North Carolina in Family Law and Civil Litigation. I have been recognized by Super Lawyers and by Marquis Who's Who. I am a Certified Mediator and Parenting Coordinator, a former member of the Bar Grievance Committee, and a former Board Member of the Wake County Bar Association.
I share that not to impress you — but to establish something important: I have been in this profession long enough, and deeply enough, to know what actually works and what doesn't.
I talk to lawyers every week who are where I was.
Associates who are tired of building someone else's firm. New lawyers who want to skip the traditional career grind and own something from day one. Motivated, capable people who don't lack talent — they lack a clear path forward.
Most lawyers leaving firms aren't afraid of practicing law. They're afraid of the business side — getting clients, managing finances, building systems, hiring the right people. They're afraid because law school never taught them any of it, and firms have no incentive to teach them either.
Law school teaches you to think like a lawyer. It does not teach you how to run a law firm.
Firm Builder Blueprint is the course I wish had existed when I started. It is a practical, step-by-step program built around what actually works — not theory, not guesswork, but two decades of hard-won experience distilled into a clear framework you can execute from day one.
"You don't need more experience before you start. You need a better path forward."
This program was built for two groups of people:
You've spent years building someone else's firm. You're ready to stop leaving money on the table, escape the politics, and build something of your own — but you need a clear path to do it without losing your income in the process.
You want to skip the associate grind entirely. You believe that if you're going to work this hard, it should be for yourself. You want a modern, lean practice built from day one — without spending a decade waiting for permission.
If you're an attorney ready to make the move — or a law student who doesn't want to wait — Firm Builder Blueprint gives you the roadmap, the systems, and the framework to build something real. No guesswork. No trial and error. Just a clear path forward from someone who has walked it.
